Meet Fernando

It may be cliché to say, but it appears that Fernando and Magda fell in love at first sight when they met in 2014 at The Claremont Club health and fitness center. Fernando was teaching a functional training class and Magda was a health & wellness coach there. They became friends and Fernando was particularly intrigued when he learned that earlier that year she had moved 3,000 miles from Massachusetts to start a new life because God had put it on her heart to do so. He asked her out to lunch one day and the rest is history. Two months after that lunch date he proposed, and they were married 4 months later, in September 2015, at Padua Hills.

Fernando graduated from high school in 1989 and quickly entered the workforce in order to help his parents with household expenses. He pursued different service and management jobs before deciding to enter the real estate market over twenty years ago. After working at a few different agencies, he made the decision to open his own agency in 2008. Magda graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts in international relations, from Mount Holyoke, a Liberal Arts College in Massachusetts. She spent over a decade working in the global apparel and footwear industry, furthering her career in different ways. She realized she wanted a change, and pursued her passion – health and wellness. She is currently raising their two daughters and volunteers for ASSURE, a pregnancy clinic in Fontana, helping young mothers as a client advocate.

Fernando is a big LA Dodgers & Lakers fan. Magda has embraced the west coast culture, however, still supports her east coast teams. The rivalry becomes real when the Red Sox play the Dodgers! The couple also enjoy working out and have set up the garage as a full gym. Each weekday morning, he and Magda host around 10 friends with a 6 am garage gym workout! They lovingly call themselves the 212 Rooster Crew! (Fernando explained this is because while water is hot at 211 degrees, it boils just one degree hotter, at 212 degrees. What does one have to do in life to get that extra 1 degree in?) Covid may have changed the places they are able to work out, but they have pivoted and managed to continue their active and healthy lifestyles. Fernando also enjoys golf with friends and loves to spend time outdoors with his family exploring all that Southern California has to offer. When they can make time for quick getaways, they enjoy taking local trips to places like Orange County and San Diego. Each year, their preferred destination is Kauai, Hawaii, however they also enjoy visiting Massachusetts to visit Magda’s family and friends.

Meet Fernando’s Family

Evie (4) enjoys gymnastics, swimming, piano, and being homeschooled by Magda. She also loves the weekly play dates scheduled for her at local parks and attending LifeBible Fellowship Church on Sundays. She is a very social young girl.

Analiese (1) is more introverted than her sister Evie. She loves her weekly Gymboree baby class as well as playing with her sister. She enjoys dancing to the movie, “Sing” every night before bedtime. She is a loving child who gets lots of attention from mom, dad, grandma and grandpa. Currently, her favorite word is “Dada”!

Amber (21), and Jakob (23), both from a previous marriage, are Fernando’s adult children. Amber is great with animals and is hoping to pursue work within this area soon. She enjoys acting and singing and is currently taking lessons to master this art.

Jakob and his wife Nicole have been married for 4 years and have a beautiful 2-year-old daughter named Penelope. Jakob works within the electronics field, after having pursued this trade in the United States Marine Corps. He completed his 5 years of service in 2020.

The Ayala family has one dog named, Petie, who is a 9-year-old Pit Bull / Lab mix that Fernando rescued in 2012. One of his favorite things to do is join him in his Claremont office for the day!

Fernando and Magda have lived in San Antonio Heights since May 2019 with their children and Magda’s parents, Eric and Ana Cardoso. Magda’s parents relocated to California to follow their daughter when the grandchildren arrived. They moved from Claremont once they found the perfect one-story home for their family. They feel San Antonio Heights is a wonderful neighborhood and love that all the homes are unique with their own distinct personalities. They especially appreciate the respect that neighbors have for one another, and how friendly everyone is.

The family have recently dealt with health complications with Magda’s parents. In 2019 Ana fought a battle with cancer and was supported by her strong family. She beat cancer and is currently doing well. Recently, Eric had triple bypass surgery and the family strength again prevailed. Fernando remarked, “We are united and so long as we whether any storm together we will get through it. We love each other and will always be here to support each other.”

The Ayala family actively attend LifeBible Fellowship Church, and now that the lockdowns regarding the pandemic are almost over they are all looking forward to getting involved in many more city activities and events like the lemon festival.

Fernando and his family hold this verse close to their hearts. “You can do all things through Jesus Christ” (Philippians 4:13).
